Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with former mentor Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since March of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on court had led observers to question if his skill to play at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
