Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state early analysis indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important political figure commented the vandalism made him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in 2020.
